T4MA believes in the centrality of our streets and transportation in our democracy. Over the last three years, we have been working to embed transportation policy as a key issue area in community organizing. To this end, we have been working with New England Community Project and our member organizations to bring transportation policy proficiency in our fight to defend democracy.
About the Organizing School
New England Community Project (NECP) and the Building Movement Infrastructure Project anchor the Statewide Climate Organizing School program as a place where organizational leaders and movement allies share their gifts of knowledge and experience and build a space focused on developing organizing skills.
Organizing School is a collaboration between grassroots organizations, alliances and movement funders who believe in base building, who believe in a multi-issue strategy and the power of a grassroots organizing approach, centering people most impacted by our issues.
2026
Brockton
T4MA had the honor of collaborating with Brockton Workers Alliance and New England Community Project in Brockton for the most recent Organizing School.
Local community members and organizers came together for a week of education, planning, discussions, shared learning and more! Brockton Organizing School focused on transit justice as Brockton launches its Citywide Transit coalition.
With a focus on uniting Pedestrians, Triders, Cyclists, Drivers and community. n the final day, we had the opportunity to hear directly from Brockton residents and experience transit firsthand 🚍
2025
Lawrence
In September, 2025 New England Community Project, in partnership with GroundWork Lawrence, held another powerful Organizing School!
The fantastic two-week program brought together community organizers from Lawrence, Lowell and Boston to learn practical tools and gain strategic understanding needed to create meaningful, sustainable change at the grassroots level.
New Bedford
In July and August of 2025, New England Community Project partnered with Coalition for Social Justice and T4MA to hold Organizing School in New Bedford, MA.
It was a profound perspective-changing experience as we learned from community leaders who do the work on the ground that directly impacts many.
The overlying message: transportation is an “us” problem. Whether it’s a student in Boston whose family lives in Central MA or a single mom who can’t drive her kids around because her license got suspended for being unable to pay fees – when one of us is stranded all of us are stuck.
