2025
GBH X The Money Train: Autonomous Vehicles
On Monday November 17, 2025, experts Jeffrey Tumlin, Former Executive Director of the San Francisco MTA, Darlene Lombos, President of the Greater Boston Labor Council, Stephanie Pollack, Former Federal Highway Deputy Administrator and MassDOT Secretary, Mark Fagan, Lecturer in Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School, held a conversation focused on questions of safety, necessary state and local regulations, and the human and economic costs of driverless cars being deployed in cities. The panel was moderated by GBH reporter Jeremy Siegel.
GBH x The Money Train: Streets as a Tool for Democracy
On June 12, 2025 Reggie Ramos, the Executive Director of Transportation for Massachusetts, hosted a discussion with Tiffany Cogell, Interim Executive Director of the Boston Cyclists Union, Katarina Torres Radisic , Facilitator of the Riders’ Transportation Access Group (RTAG), and Brendan Kearney, Executive Director of WalkMassachusetts. Together they discussed the streets as shared spaces to ignite civil discourse and social cohesion.
GBH x The Money Train: The 15 Minute City
On March 24, Professor Carlos Moreno, author of “The 15 Minute City”, was joined by Jim Aloisi, former Transportation Secretary of Massachusetts, explored the principles of the 15-Minute City, how it works, and how urban planning impacts our way of life and shapes how we live and move in our communities.
Christian MilNeil, editor-in-chief at StreetsblogMASS moderated the discussion.
The Money Train: Freedom to Move
On February 27, T4MA was joined by Emmanuell De Barros, Director Of Development and Community Engagement at Alternatives for Community and Environment (ACE), Kevin Shen, Northeast Transportation Policy Analyst at Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS), Seth Gadbois, Clean Transportation Staff Attorney at the Conservation Law Foundation and Paulina Muratore, Director of Transportation Justice and Infrastructure at the Conservation Law Foundation. They held a lively and informative discussion around the collaborative report by UCS, ACE and others titled “Freedom to Move”.
The Money Train: MA Vehicle Economy
On January 15, Stevie Olson, co-author of The $64 Billion Massachusetts Vehicle Economy and Julia Wallerce, Assistant Director of Transportation at the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) spoke about the main findings addressed in the paper, and provided more context around how we integrate the costs of motor vehicle transportation into the wider discussion of transportation costs borne by the state and directly by residents.

The Money Train: Minding the Gap
At our fourth virtual webinar on Wednesday November 13, 2024 we heard from Jen Healy, Rural Transit Program Manager, Quaboag Valley Community Development Corporation; Corinn Williams, Executive Director of the Community Economic Development Center of Southeastern Massachusetts; Noah Berger, Administrator, Merrimack Valley Transit (MeVa); and Gwynne Guzzeau, Executive Director of Helping Our Women about the real transportation challenges that affect communities outside of the Greater Boston Area and local solutions that are being implemented, like micro-transit, that need more sustainable funding sources.
The panel discussion was moderated by André Leroux, Director, Gateway Hubs Project at MassINC.
The Money Train: Congestion & Road Pricing
At our third virtual webinar on Thursday September 5, 2024 international experts discussed how several cities around the world have incorporated congestion and road pricing into their transportation funding and traffic management solutions, and the benefits or hurdles they’ve experienced as a result.
The panelists included Jonas Eliasson, Director of Transport Accessibility for the Swedish Transport Administration and Visiting Professor of Transport Systems at Linköping University; Dr. Sreyus Palliyani, Consultant for Arthur D. Little in Dubai and Singapore; Matt Woodhouse, Assistant Vice President, Pricing Operations Strategy Practice Lead at WSP USA Advisory and Betsy Plum, Executive Director at Riders Alliance NY, with Kathryn Carlson, Executive Director at Rappaport Institute for Greater Boston, Harvard Kennedy School as facilitator.
The Money Train: What Other States Are Doing
Our second virtual event on Wednesday July 24, 2024 held informative conversations around transportation funding in other states and the solutions they’ve reached. Many thanks to our panelists from across the country – Kate Slevin, Executive Vice President at Regional Plan Association (NY Tri-State area), José Antonio Zayas Cabán, Executive Director at Our Streets Minneapolis (MN), Laurel Paget-Seekins, Senior Policy Advocate for Transportation Justice at Public Advocates (CA) and Beth Osborne, Director of Transportation for America and Benito Perez, Policy Director at Transportation for America as facilitator.
ALL ABOARD THE MONEY TRAIN!
Our first Money Train event on June 24, 2024 welcomed hundreds of people from around the state to hear from Roseann Bongiovanni of GreenRoots, Jen Healy of the Quaboag Connector, Jack Myers of Craig’s Doors, and Dalida Rocha of Neighbor to Neighbor and engage in a vibrant conversation focused on community needs and building a just transportation system.
