Joint Rule 10 Day

Joint Rule 10 (JR10) Day is the day that bills must be reported out by the joint committees, except the Committee on Health Care Financing, for consideration. Bills can receive a favorable, unfavorable, ought not to pass, or study order. If a bill receives an unfavorable, an ought not to pass or study order, it is no longer under active consideration by the legislature for the remainder of the session. Most bills that receive a favorable report are sent to the House or Senate Committees on Ways and Means as a next step.

TAKE ACTION

→ Advocates can send letters or advocate directly with committee chairs and members about bills that they support and would like the committee to report out favorably. Check out our tips on meeting with your legislator.
